Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Tuesday

A flat high pressure maintains its presence over the region and should help to weaken an incoming frontal system as it arrives. The frontal system should slowly spread clouds into the region Sunday night with light to occasionally moderate rain increasing on Monday in the mountains of Washington State. Temperatures will be quite mild with freezing levels above 7000 ft on Sunday night and snow levels on Monday above 7000 ft as well. Winds should increase on Monday, but will remain in the light to moderate range for most locations. You might find moderate to strong winds in exposed locations in the Olympic Mountains by the end of the day on Monday.

Monday night the tail end of the weakening front should shift southward and light to occasionally moderate rain should focus on the west slopes of the central and southern Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood area after midnight. The frontal passage should cool temperatures very slightly over northwest Washington, but not significantly elsewhere.

Westerly flow aloft and at the surface should help maintain very light rain shower activity on Tuesday while the east slopes of the Cascades should experience full sunshine.
