Weather Synopsis for Wednesday night through Friday

The dominant high-pressure system in the NE Pacific will remain intact through Friday. This should maintain cool, dry NW flow aloft over the forecast area with little change in the weather. The split flow pattern over the NE Pacific is slowly breaking down and will allow for Pacific frontal systems to approach the region by late Friday.

Moderate to strong low-level offshore flow will maintain strong and gusty easterly winds near the Cascade crest and especially in the lower Cascade passes through Friday.  

The first approaching frontal system will weaken as it approaches the coast Friday and spread increasing high clouds across the region through the day.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Sunday

The initial upper trough and associated front in quite some time is forecast to move across the region late Friday night and weaken as it moves across the crest Saturday. This system appears to weaken considerably as it moves inland but will at least bring a shot of mostly light precipitation to the region, favoring the volcanoes.

A brief ridge of high pressure should allow for a dry period Saturday night ahead of a second and somewhat stronger front arrives in the day Sunday. This system should give a period of light to moderate precipitation over the entire forecast area Sunday, with the greatest precipitation favoring the volcanoes.
