Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Monday
A fast moving frontal system passed through the Olympics and Cascades early Saturday morning, drastically lowering snow levels and generally producing with 1-3 inches of new snow, with locally up to 6-8 inches in the Mt. Baker area in it's wake. Little to no new snow was received at Mt. Hood and along the east slopes of the Cascades. Scattered showers mainly along the west slopes of the Cascades and Olympics this afternoon will quickly taper overnight. Showers may still occasionally be moderate in the remnants of a convergence zone near and west of the Stevens Pass area. Breezy west winds will also ease overnight.
A dry upper level trough will spread high clouds over the area tonight. The trough will swing through the Cascades by late morning, with a general clearing and slight warming trend expected for all areas. The trough will linger longest over the north Cascades with locally more afternoon cloud cover and a slight chance of an afternoon shower possible. Freezing levels will climb to 6000-7000 ft Sunday afternoon.
Upper level ridging building offshore will shift nearer to the coast Sunday night with clear skies expected.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Monday
A strong upper level ridge of high pressure will build over the western US and Canada Monday, and gradually shift inland during the week. A cut-off, broad, but weak upper level low will meander towards the California coast mid-week.
This will leave our region in a dry and warm air mass. A progressive warming trend is expected Monday through Wednesday with the warm weather extending through the end of the work week. The warmest temperatures of the season will occur this week with generally clear skies. Caveats to the dry and warm weather include a period of offshore flow on Monday, strongest from Snoqualmie Pass to Mt. Hood. The flow at Cascade crest level and above will shift to a south wind as the cut-off upper low drifts closer and offshore gradients weaken.
