Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Sunday

After all the wild wet weather last week in the Olympics and Cascades, Friday was pretty benign with light winds, some sun mainly in the morning, little if any precipitation and little change in snow levels.

A elongated, split north to south oriented upper trough will move onto the US west coast on Saturday with the main stronger part of the trough moving across California. But some moisture and precipitation will move out of the south part of the trough and south to north over the Northwest. A little more precipitation should be seen on the south volcanoes by Saturday afternoon.

A little break should be seen Saturday night.

A negatively tilted or southeast to northwest oriented upper trough and front should cross the Northwest on Sunday. In the Olympics and Cascades this should cause a modest increase in alpine winds and a little more precipitation by Sunday afternoon especially on the volcanoes.

Snow levels shouldn't change much on Saturday and Sunday but should be a little higher in the afternoon hours.
